Flame retardant TPE Thermoplastic elastomer is an important material in the field of consumer electronic data cables. It not only has good physical properties such as flexibility, wear resistance and mechanical properties, but also has excellent flame retardant properties, which is particularly important in electronic products because they are often used in environments close to users, such as headphone cables, electronic cables, power cables, signal cables, etc.
Flame retardant TPE usually achieves its flame retardant properties by adding flame retardants. Common flame retardants include inorganic flame retardants (such as aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide) and organic flame retardants (such as phosphorus flame retardants, nitrogen flame retardants). These flame retardants can form a barrier layer or inhibit the generation of free radicals when the material burns, thereby slowing down the combustion rate or preventing the occurrence of combustion. Halogen-free flame retardant TPE was developed to meet environmental protection requirements and avoid the use of halogen-containing flame retardants, which may produce harmful smoke and toxic gases when burning.
In the formulation system of halogen-free flame retardant TPE, the filling amount of flame retardant is usually high, which may affect the mechanical properties of the material. Therefore, the key to research and development is to find a suitable halogen-free flame retardant system and maintain the mechanical properties of the material at a high filling content. In addition, the mixing and dispersion of the flame retardant and the matrix resin are also very important, which will determine the uniformity of the material.
In the field of consumer electronics, the performance requirements of TPE flame-retardant data cable special materials include good flame retardant properties, excellent electrical properties, good mechanical properties, aging resistance and environmental protection performance. These properties ensure the safety and reliability of data cables when transmitting information or electrical energy.
Flexible polyphenylene ether (PPE) is an engineering plastic with self-flame retardancy and a high oxygen index. It can achieve a high flame retardant level by compounding with a halogen-free flame retardant system while maintaining high mechanical properties. PPE-modified TPE can be used for communication wires, household wires, electric vehicle charging cables and other electronic equipment cables, providing excellent scratch resistance, dielectric properties, coloring properties and aging resistance.
